Cheaper by the Dozen

"Cheaper By The Dozen" has all these likable stars in it, but somehow the sum of the parts fails to produce a film that should have been more engaging and fun (even with the melodrama created by the parents "wanting it all"). Sadly enough, most of the funny bits are already given away in the trailer, and what you're left with isn't all that cohesive of a movie. Several subplots get started, and get concluded somewhat unsatisfactorily. The children rarely rise above being mere plot devices, rather than real characters (except for one, for the most part). Then again, it would have been impossible to develop even half of the dozen in a 2 hour film.

I was mildly entertained, but this is recommended only as a matinee or a rental.

I give it 2.5 stars, or a grade of C+.
