Overall, a film that embraces its surrounding neighborhoods of Boston (using true inhabitants of the areas where possible), lending credibility to its backdrop in this tale depicting the hunt for a missing child. It's a film that captures your attention with good dialogue, appropriate amount of action, and good pacing. Casey Affleck delivers a smart performance, and has a good supporting cast that pulls its weight in most of the right places. Ben Affleck's direction is good because he plays it straight, without over-reaching in melodramatic moments, and because of it, the film sustains its momentum throughout its running time, and I found myself pretty engaged to how the story would play out.
I give it 3.5 stars, or a grade of B+.
