Oliver Stone's latest film deals with a love triangle between 2 pot-makers, Ben (Aaron Johnson) and Chon (Taylor Kitsch) and O (Blake Lively), a lovely California blonde being exploited by a Mexican drug lord Elena Lorena (Salma Hayek) to gain a foothold in Ben and Chon's distribution network.
The supporting cast, led by Benecio del Toro and John Travolta nearly steal every scene they are in, and the developing story and dialogue in the first 2/3 of the movie was pretty enjoyable, though very violent in spots (totally earns its R rating). But the resolution was a little too safe (though humorous), and the use of narration by O is somewhat of a crutch to extend the running time a bit.
I give it 2.75 stars, or a grade of B-.
